Individual Account Opening

Now you can easily open a CDS account and begin trading on the Colombo Stock Exchange from the comfort of your home! With the CSE’s fully digital platform, the process is entirely paperless and stress-free. Simply download the CSE mobile app, fill in your details, and choose Enterprise Ceylon Capital (Pvt) Ltd as your Broker.

How to open your CDS account:

  • Step 1

    Provide your personal information, address, bank details, and employment information.

  • Step 2

    Complete the Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) questionnaire.

  • Step 3

    Upload the necessary documents: • A selfie • Photos of your NIC (both front and back) • Bank passbook or statement (foreign clients should provide an LKR IIA statement) • Proof of residency (upload if your correspondence address differs from your residential one)

  • Step 4

    Review and accept the terms before submitting your application.

Joint Account Opening

You can now open a CDS Joint Account to begin trading on the Colombo Stock Exchange by submitting the necessary documents in hard copy. Unlike individual accounts, joint accounts require a manual process and cannot be completed online.

Here’s how to open your joint account:

  • Step 1

    Download and fill out the CDS account opening form for joint accounts.

  • Step 2

    Attach the necessary documents, including NIC copies for both account holders, proof of residency for both (if your correspondence address differs from your residential address), and the primary holder’s bank passbook or statement.

  • Step 3

    If relevant, include supporting documents that verify your relationship, such as a marriage or birth certificate.

  • Step 4

    Sign the account opening form along with the joint account holder, and submit all documents either via email at [email protected], at our office, or through your RIA.

Local Company Account Opening

As a local company, you no longer need to go through the hassle of using physical forms to open accounts. Through the Digital Onboarding Portal for Local Companies available through the CDS website, you can now easily register online.

Foreign Company Opening

You can now open a CDS account for Foreign Companies to begin trading on the Colombo Stock Exchange by submitting hard copies of the required documents. Unlike local companies, foreign company accounts must be opened manually and cannot be completed through the CDS web portal.

Required Documents:

  • IIA Account Details:

    A bank statement from the last 3 months or a letter from the IIA bank addressed to the CDS, confirming the company maintains an LKR IIA account.

  • Articles of Association:

    A copy of the company's Articles of Association or an equivalent document.

  • Certificate of Incorporation:

    A copy of the Certificate of Incorporation or an equivalent document.

  • For Corporate Directors:

    If any director is a company, provide a copy of that company’s Certificate of Incorporation.

  • Certificate of Good Standing:

    A copy of the Certificate of Good Standing or an equivalent document issued within the last year by the Registrar of Companies or applicable authority where the company was incorporated.

  • Company Secretary's Letter:

    A letter on company letterhead, issued within the last 3 months, confirming the following:

    ○ Full name of the company or corporate body.
    ○ Registered address and correspondence address (if different).
    ○ Place of incorporation or establishment.
    ○ IIA account details with proof (for non-resident companies).
    ○ Names, addresses, passport numbers, and occupations of directors. If listed on a stock exchange, only names are required, with proof of listing (a website reference is acceptable).
    ○ If a director is a company, provide:

    ■ Name of the company.
    ■ Date of incorporation.
    ■ Place of incorporation.
    ■ Registered address.

    ○ If an authorized person is signing the CDS form on behalf of the company, submit a copy of the board resolution or power of attorney authorizing the person to sign, along with their passport copy.

    ○ Names and addresses of the top 10 shareholders or members (not applicable for listed companies).

    ○ Name of the person(s) authorized to give instructions, with a copy of the power of attorney or board resolution.

  • CDS 2 and CDS 2B Forms

    These forms must be signed by two directors, with the company’s seal placed on the signatures.

  • KYC Forms:

    To be signed by two authorized signatories.
